High-quality HP printing in white

HP unveils new 3D printing solution for high quality manufacturing white parts

Last November at Formnext 2022, HP publicly showcased its new HP Jet Fusion 5420W solution for the first time. In the future, the new production-ready industrial 3D printer will enable the production of white 3D printed parts in the high quality known for the HP MJF process.

Numerous advantages for versatile applications

With its new 3D printing system, HP is enabling the consistent, high-quality production of white parts and, as a result, completely new production applications. This makes the new solution ideal for the automotive, consumer goods, healthcare and industrial sectors, for example. Through the robust, production-ready Multi Jet Fusion platform, the new solution also offers industrial-strength reliability, low cost per part and improved manufacturing predictability.

The new solution also offers more freedom for post-processing. Parts produced in the traditional HP MJF process are always gray after 3D printing due to the process and can therefore only be colored in dark shades. For the white parts, on the other hand, a much wider range of colors is now available, including light shades. In addition, the parts feature better light absorption and the colors appear more vivid overall.

Robust, reusable material

The white parts are made of HP 3D High Reusability PA12 W material, which was specially developed for the HP MJF process. The robust thermoplastic offers the best balance between quality and recyclability for white functional parts. In addition, the material is characterized by its UV resistance and it does not yellow. Complex geometries with fine details, dimensional accuracy and optimum mechanical properties can be ideally implemented. Rounding out the profile of HP PA12 W is its industry-leading reusability of excess powder. Due to its characteristics, the materials wide range of applications extends from medical devices and prosthetics, to lighting elements, fashion and wearables, as well as household appliances.
