3D printed exhibition model

3DBAVARIA manufactures trade show model of an automated guided vehicle system from BHS Intralogistics GmbH.

The iShuttle from BHS Intralogistics GmbH is a driverless transport system that can be used universally for in-house goods transport. It is characterized above all by its compactness - despite its low height of 285 millimeters, it has a load capacity of 4.4 tons and can therefore be easily integrated into production facilities. The iShuttle is part of the BHS iMotion project, the aim of which is to provide a total solution for the autonomous in-house flow of goods.

The exhibition model of the BHS iShuttle manufactured by 3DBAVARIA.

In October, at the request of BHS Intralogistics, we produced a model of this driverless transport shuttle using additive manufacturing. It was needed for FEFCO 2021, an international trade fair for the packaging and labeling industry, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The model was printed on a reduced scale from PETG using fusion layering (FDM) .

The FDM process is ideal for the production of prototypes and large components. The PETG material is dimensionally stable, easy to grind and is characterized by good temperature resistance, which is an advantage for subsequent painting processes, for example. Therefore, this combination was the best choice for the production of the exhibition model, which was subsequently to the 3D printing spatulaed, grinded and painted in the customer's colors.

The time from the inquiry to the delivery of the model was thereby just one month. Speed and short delivery times are among the greatest advantages of 3D printing. However, for a large product such as the iShuttle model, which subsequently requires extensive painting, even four weeks are a short period of time. Not least because of the good cooperation with BHS Intralogistics, the timely completion of the exhibition model was possible without any problems.
